I joined the theater community at 8 years old, acting in community theater shows and at my elementary school. In 2008, I started directing summer musicals at my elementary school, where I also designed and built sets and props; designed, hung, and focused lighting; and engineered the sound. The first year consisted of a small cast of 14, but after six years there were 36 kids and a full crew. Following this experience, I discovered my passion for Stage Management. Since then, I have gained many years of extensive hands-on Stage Management experience in a variety of performances, including dance, straight plays, and musicals.
Now, I have graduated from University of California, Davis with a B.A. in Dramatic Arts, focusing in Stage Management, and a double minor in French and Managerial Economics. During my studies, I took classes in Lighting Design, Costume Design, Scenic Design, Sound, and Theater History and Theory. I also spent four months in Paris studying French History and Culture, including a class on stage direction, for which I wrote a 21-page dissertation in French about The Miser by Moliere. I graduated with honors after completing a Costume, Lighting, and Scenic design for The Miser, which can be found on the Additional Project Page. Furthermore, I spent my last two years at UC Davis as a Peer Adviser and Company Manager where I worked with students, faculty, and staff to better the department by creating structures and policies, expanding opportunities of undergrads, and hosting special events to engage the department with the community.
In 2019, I joined Actors’ Equity Association, after a few years in the EMC Program.
Having worked in many areas of theatre, I feel confident managing the complexities of leadership in stage management: resolving problems while preserving a calm and authoritative manner, and efficiently communicating between designers, actors, and the director to uphold a creative and supportive environment. Working in the collaborative world of theatre has honed my skills in problem-solving, planning, communication, and team support. Whether I am working on a professional, personal, or academic project, I always take the initiative, look ahead and prepare for potential risks, and take on unforeseen responsibilities and skills without hesitation. While stage management can be seen as a high-stress profession, I see it as a challenge to learn more, working closely with every department to ensure a high quality performance without complications.
I am a proactive and competent individual with organizational, creative thinking, and time management. These skills, coupled with my enthusiasm to learn and passion for theatre, makes me a great asset to any team!
In my free time, I love baking, cooking, and playing with dogs! I also own an Etsy store where I sell handmade dog bandanas.
